Do I need to book a shore excursion?
No. You are free to explore on your own, grab a taxi, wander the old town, or claim a beach chair without buying a tour through the cruise line. Royal Caribbean excursions buy you convenience, variety, and priority getting off the ship, but they are not required. The ship will tell you when you need to be back onboard, and that all-aboard time is real whether you booked a tour or went rogue with a map and good walking shoes.
