Can I bring drinks such as wine, beer, soda, bottled water, or spirits onboard?

Yes, but Royal Caribbean has drawn a surprisingly precise beverage border. Wine gets a visitor pass, soda and bottled water get a quantity limit, and beer, hard seltzer, and spirits are not allowed onboard. On embarkation day: Each guest of legal drinking age may carry on one sealed 750 ml bottle of wine or champagne. It must be a standard bottle. Boxed wine and other containers are not permitted. If you drink your bottle in a public area, Royal Caribbean charges a $15 corkage fee. Enjoying it in your stateroom avoids the fee. Beer, hard seltzer, and spirits are not allowed, even when sealed. If security finds them, expect them to be confiscated, and you likely will not get them back. Do not try converting a mouthwash bottle into a tiny speakeasy. Security may inspect containers and dispose of concealed alcohol. For soda, bottled water, and other non-alcoholic drinks, each stateroom may carry on up to 12 standard cans, bottles, or cartons, with each container holding no more than 17 ounces. Put them in your carry-on, not your checked luggage. Royal Caribbean also specifically permits milk and distilled water needed for infants, medical reasons, or dietary needs. When returning from a port: You may buy wine, beer, or spirits ashore, but you cannot take them back to your stateroom for immediate consumption. Present the alcohol to security when reboarding. The ship will store it and return it near the end of the cruise, giving your vacation purchase several quiet days to reflect on its choices. Royal Caribbean's published non-alcoholic drink allowance specifically applies to boarding day. Its public policy does not clearly promise that soda, bottled water, or other non-alcoholic drinks purchased during a port visit can be brought back aboard. Enforcement may vary, but security has the final say. If you buy a case of your favorite island soda, do so knowing it may not receive the same warm welcome you did.
